Growing Hope

In 2024, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) hosted an illustration contest to to share their interpretation of “What does an AIDS-free generation mean to you?” Below is my entry and artist statement, which received 3rd place in the category of emerging artists. I was so incredibly grateful and proud to be apart of this contest to help an amazing foundation with an important mission. Learn more about the contest and foundation here.

Growing Hope (Digital Art, 2024)

What does an AIDS-free generation mean to you? To me, an AIDS-free generation simply means hope. Hope for every child to live full and healthy lives, hope for an end to HIV and AIDS, and hope for a brighter future for everyone around the world. I was inspired to illustrate that future through the relationship of a mother and child. Mothers share guidance, love, and life-giving nutrients with their children, but they can also share hope with the help of hard-working people, like the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. I painted Mother Earth nurturing hope in the form of vibrant daisies, petunias, and daffodils and helping the next generation to blossom to their full potential.

Winning Illustrations were framed and displayed at the 2024 Umbrella Art Fair held at Union Market in Washington DC from November 15th-17th.
